Gachatha PB
Origin: Gachatha, Nyeri, Kenya
Varietal: SL28, SL34
Process: Washed
Altitude: 2000 masl
In the cup: currant, grapefruit & kiss from a rose...
Our 2nd Kenyan of the year & it's a peaberry! Tricky to roast but incredible to brew when we get the first part right ; ) (Obviously lol)
One of 3 Kenyans we will release this year & it does NOT disappoint. Generous dark currants are accented with hushed tones of grapefruit and rose petal. It's a brilliant coffee.
This Gachatha is from a small co-op located in Nyeri in Central-Kenya. About 900 smallholder farmers deliver coffee cherries to Gachatha wet mill. Each lot that Gachatha produces will normally be sold individually and also graded based on bean density, size and quality. The best coffees in Kenya do come from co-op’s & Gachatha is always such a banger every year, we hope to have it. Now we finally do.
THE DESIGN:
This monolith you see on the bag are the defunct "silos" near the Montreal port. A common place for people to explore, party in, & cause a bit of mischief. We wouldn't know anything about that ; )
